Today's piece of information you don't think you need to know and probably don't:
It takes an avocado 13 months to go from a bud to a fruit big enough to be picked. They have to mature on the tree but will not ripen until picked. Avocados can be stored on the tree for up to 7 months. That is why we have avocados year-round.
P.S. I think I need some 7-Salsas
